Trends in Quality of Life Over the Course of the Treatment Episode Part II–Nonparametric Tests Showing Change

Using simple nonparametric statistical tests, total quality of life increases, or at least be maintained, as a participant spends more time in the program.

In interpreting this Knowledge Item, and all others in this section on Quality of Life and Health, remember that the ratings of quality of life, symptom impact, and healthcare utilization are based on patient self reports.

The following chart shows the mean rank (across data collection waves) of the Total Quality of Life score. Scores are ranked within each individual (from lowest = 1 to highest = 3) and the mean rank is highest when the Total Quality of Life score is highest. This chart shows the mean ranks for all individuals for whom there are three waves of data available (N = 471).
