Trends in Quality of Life Over the Course of the
Treatment Episode Part III–General Linear Models Showing Change
Mean levels of Total Quality of
Life increase as the participant is treated.
A number of sophisticated statistical
models suggest that men in the Psychosocial Projects have the largest
initial gain in Quality of Life as a result of entering treatment. Note
that all groups are maintained at least at the level at which they
entered treatment during episodes of up to several years.
Breaking down the comparisons into
Managed Medical Care Projects versus Comprehensive Medical Care
(including psychosocial supports) Projects versus Psychosocial Supports
(with linked medical services) Projects, the greatest gains appear to
come from the Psychosocial Supports Projects and the Comprehensive
Medical Care Projects followed by the Managed Medical Care Projects.

additional analyses that confirm that the projects with wrap-around
comprehensive psychosocial services, supplementing basic medical
services, tend to maintain the patient at the same or an increased
quality of life for a longer time, and with a greater ratio of
improvement, than just medical services. The additional Knowledge Items
use alternate statistical designs and models with different factors
"controlled," but the different methods of assessing the
relative effectiveness of these different types of service models in
achieving improved quality of life for the patients all point out the
importance of integrated psychosocial or "wrap-around"
services.
