CA-Retention in Psychosocial Services-05
Program-Specific Retention Curves
Cox (proportional hazards) and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to study the time that
2063 clients, in 10 programs, were retained in psychosocial services designed
to support their medical treatment. Combining data from
the ten programs, the mean estimated time of program retention is 710.73
days (standard
error = 17.41 days). The median time of retention in program is 529 days.
There are significant variations among the programs in the degree to which
they retain their clients in psychosocial services.
This Knowledge Item
shows site-specific curves.
Note: The
survival curve shown above differs from those shown in Retention Items
01-04 in that it is a "raw" set of curves derived from a
Kaplan-Meier analysis rather than fitted curves from a Cox proportional
hazards regression. The "raw" curve is shown in order to give
a closer sense of the differences between the projects.
The next
curve has been fitted through Cox regression.
