Knowledge Item: CA-Technical Issues-12
Possible Four-Item Program Satisfaction Scale

This Knowledge Item presents scaling analyses of the client satisfaction questionnaire for Community Based Organizations and suggests a possible four-item short form. The full eight-item scale has a coefficient alpha of .89; the proposed four-item short form has a coefficient alpha of .77 in a sample of 516 HIV/AIDS patients in either integrated medical care or a CBO psychosocial services provider.

This Knowledge Item is a follow-up to Knowledge Items: CA-Program Satisfaction-03 and -04

Based on both a psychometric analysis of the full eight items and a consideration of the item content, the following four items work well as a shortened form and essentially retain the psychometric properties of the full set of eight items.

  • Overall I think the services here are: excellent, very good, good, fair/poor.

  • The information that I have received here has been: very helpful, helpful, not very helpful, not at all helpful.

  • The staff here treat me like I am an individual with unique needs and concerns: all of the time, most times, sometimes, rarely or never.

  • Would you tell your friends that they should come here if they have needs like yours?: definitely yes, probably, probably not, definitely not.
