Knowledge Item: CA-Initiative Impact-09
Total Clients Enrolled in Medical and Psychosocial Programs

Between the start of funding on October 1, 1994, and the final data summary including information through June 15, 1999, the Cooperative Agreement Projects enrolled 2579 males and 2225 females with HIV/AIDS. Of the total of 4804 individuals, 3187 were served in medical programs, and 1617 were served in psychosocial support programs. However, the purpose of the psychosocial supports programs was to help patients stay in medical treatment, and hence all of these individuals were seeing a physician, although for the clients of the psychosocial support programs this was at a linked medical facility.

The Cooperative Agreement Projects have provided services to a large and diverse group of men and women living with HIV/AIDS. The service models of this group of projects have been tested with large and diverse groups.
