Module 56

Trainer Characteristics Form: Final Draft of July 21, 1995

Main Purpose The purpose of this module is to record characteristics of trainers. It is assumed that each trainer has an unique identifier that is coded on services forms.
Description
  • This form is parallel to Module 49 (Staff Characteristics Form).
  • The form collects major demographics characteristics of the individual who provides training.
  • The information is collected on a single legal-sized form.
Target Projects for Form
  • ALL.
  • This evaluation tool would be maximally useful if all projects code this information from all staff.
Major Evaluation Function
  • This information permits a comparison of levels of training provided and training effectiveness when there is, or is not, a congruence in basic demographic characteristics, training, and other factors between the individuals providing the training and the individuals receiving the training.
  • Congruence between trainers and trainees and the effectiveness of training is an important meta-issue that is best addressed by pooled multi-site data because greater heterogeneity of trainers and trainees is achieved through multiple sites.
  • Trainee characteristics may also have an important, "main effect" on program effectiveness.
Comments
  • Alternate version is available with questions about sexual orientation and HIV status deleted.
Implementation
  • Module 56 Current Version (dated 2/12/96) Activation Number: 28281.
