Current Evaluation Center

The Measurement Group is currently conducting an Evaluation Center for the John A. Hartford Foundation to assess the impact of its Geriatric Nursing Initiative. The programs included in the evaluation are five Centers for Geriatric Nursing Excellence at major universities, their coordinating center at the American Academy of Nursing, the John A. Hartford Foundation Center at New York University as well as curriculum development (at 30 schools) and scholar development (100 scholars at 10 or more schools) programs administered by the Association of American Colleges of Nursing.

Evaluation of John A. Hartford Foundation Program Initiative on Geriatric Nursing
The John A. Hartford Foundation – since 1996 and more recently in 2000 – has made large investments in activities designed to expand and improve academic geriatric nursing programs, and ultimately improve nursing care for older adults. The objective and independent external evaluation by The Measurement Group will help the John A. Hartford Foundation determine how its projects have been implemented, their short- and longer-term outcomes, and their broader impact on geriatric nursing and patient care for older adults. The evaluation will also help the Foundation determine the lessons that have been learned from implementing these programs so as to guide its future efforts in this area.

Prior Evaluation and Dissemination Centers

The Measurement Group has been responsible for two large cross-cutting evaluation centers for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in its national demonstration programs carried out through its Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) program. The two evaluation centers collectively have served 37 national demonstration projects which included more than 100 provider and subcontractor agencies. The sections referenced here explain the major intents of those evaluation centers, list the projects, show major products developed in collaboration with the individual projects, and access reports, technical materials, presentations at grantee meetings by the Evaluation and Dissemination Centers and by individual grantee projects. Each section may be considered as a cumulative, five-year record of the intent, methods, and results from the individual projects and the collective efforts as coordinated and conducted by the Evaluation and Dissemination Center.

Evaluation and Dissemination Center: Innovative Models of HIV/AIDS Care
Information is given about 27 HIV/AIDS service demonstration projects funded by the HIV/AIDS Bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA/HAB) as Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS). The 27 projects have developed Innovative HIV/AIDS models. The Measurement Group conducts the cross-site evaluation and leads the Evaluation and Dissemination Center. This Center was conducted in collaboration with PROTOTYPES who had primary responsibility for Center logistics and for a number of dissemination activities.

Evaluation and Dissemination Center: Adolescent HIV/AIDS Care Models
Information is given about 10 Adolescent-focused HIV/AIDS service demonstration projects funded by the HIV/AIDS Bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA/HAB) as Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS). The Measurement Group conducted the cross-site evaluation and provided the Evaluation and Dissemination Center.
